Applicants to the American Society of Podiatric Medicine must meet the following criteria to join the organization:

• Practicing Podiatrist
• Graduate of an approved Podiatric medical college
• Licenced ot practice Podiatric Medicine in their respective state, provence or country
• Amember in good standing with their local and state podiatric medical association and the American Podiatric Medical Association.

Associate Category:

An applicant for Associate Membership must present a thesis of at least 2000 words on a phase of original medical research acceptable to the American Society of Podiatric Medicine credentials committee.

Fellow Category:

To achieve Fellow Membership staus in the American Society of Podiatric Medicine, an applicant must have completed at least 200 hours of post graduate work approved by the Society credentials committee.  Applicants are required to present a thesis of at least 5,000 words on some phase of Podiatric Medical research.  In lieu of a thesis, submission of twenty five documented case histories on a particular aspect of podiatric medical practice, or board certification in primary podiatric medicine.
